WANGANUI WOOL SALE.

BROKERS’ REPORTS. FARMERS’ DISTRIBUTING CO. The New Zealand Farmers’ Co-op. Distributing Co.. Ltd., report on the Wanganui wool sale held on Thursday:— We offered an attractive catalogue of 3822 bales to a full and representative bench of buyers. Competition was very keen at slightly reclosed limits, and we were successlul in selling 95 per cent, of our catalogue at auction at prices which must be considered very satisfactory on the day. Prior to the opening of the London sales it was anticipated that prices at Wanganui would be on a lower basis, but since the London sales have opened at slightly increased prices it had a definite firming effect on our sale. “Jim bulk ot the offering was lifted by Continental buyers, hut Bradford was also operating on restricted limits. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as follow ■—A total catalogue of slightly over 30,000 bales was submitted, of which our quota was 4379 bales. There was the usual full and representative bench of buyers, but at 110 time could competition be described as excited. From the outset it was apparent that the Continental section were not as keenly in the market as at the sale held at the end of last week m Napier, and were working under reduced limits. Bradford representatives, owing to the lower prices, tiere more in evidence than at previous sales, and secured a fair weight or the offering. Comparing prices with the previous sale at the end of last week these can be quoted about 3d easier. Lambs’ \\;ool, of which there was a fair entry, was not so keenly competed for as at previous sales tins season, and the best of these can be quoted from Id to lid lower. ine wool did not open up as attractive as last season, especially the hoggets, which for the most part were not nearly so well grown, and lacked the lustre of last season. Competition, while at times active, was most irregular, this being often experienced in a falling market.
