DANGEROUS TECHNIQUE.
CHRISTCHURCH BAG SNATCHER. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 22. A bag snatcher employing a daring method for his crime, and one which might result in serious injury to the victim, is at work in the city. He rides a bicycle and collides with his intended victim before carrying off his spoils. His first adventure involved an elderly woman, who suffered the theft of a leather handbag containing about £2 in cash and other articles valued at •between £4 and £5.
“The incident happened about 9 o’clock last night,” the woman told a reporter this morning. “I was cycling along Dublin Street when another cyclist suddenly collided with me without any warning. I fell to the ground with my machine, and whilst I was lying on the road helpless my bag was taken away from me.”
