Mr and Mrs L. H. Collinson, Palmerston North, are spending a few days in Wellington. Mrs C. N. Rabone and Mrs M. J. McArtney are spending the week-end eamping at Pohangina.
Miss J. A. Mawhiney, of Brett Avenue, Takapuna, is spending a holiday in Palmerston North. Miss C. Wilson, of Bulls, who has been visiting Wellington, has returned home.
Among the successful students in the University entrance examination is Miss Nola M. Ciochetto, daughter of Mr . and Mrs C. V. Ciochetto, of Palmerston North, who is a pupil of St. Margaret’s College, AVellington. Mr and Mrs J. N. Rutherford, of Palmerston North, are visiting Wellington. '
Miss Sylvia Joan Spear, daughter of Mr and Mrs E. V. Spear, of Palmerston North, ‘was a successful candidate in the Training College Entrance examination held in November last.
Mrs W. Morton Bullen, of Palmerston North, who was a visitor to Wellington, to farewell Mrs John Ashwell. has returned home.
After spending a holiday at Whangaroa, where they engaged in deep-sea fishing, Mr and Mrs F. Slater, of Palmerston North, have returned home. Mesdames E. Anderson and JDavidson, of Palmerston North, are the guest sof Mrs L. Benjamin, Wanganui, for the croquet tournament. Miss N. Owles, of Christchurch, who has been the guest of Miss Judith Copeland, of Palmerston North, leaves to-night on a visit to Mrs A. Mays, of Redcastle, Oamaru. Nurse Grover, of the staff of the Palmerston North Hospital, left today as a delegate to the Dominion conference of the New Zealand Nurses’ Christian Union; which is being held at Christchurch. Miss Hilda Hislop, sports secretary to. the Dunedin Young Women’s Christian Association for the last two years, has received the appointment of secretary of the Wellington Young Women’s Christian Association.
Mr and Mrs F- Grotrian, of Ashburst, who attended the first day of the summer meeting of the 'Wellington Racing Club, have returned home, accompanied by Mrs Grotrian’s mother and brother, Mrs W. M. Shand and Mr J. Shand, of Tinakori Road, who will be their guests for two or three weeks.
According to a decision made at a meeting of the Waikato Hospital Board, Nurse F. N. McGregor, of the Waikato Hospital, is to be presented with a gold medal in recognition of her achievement in being placed first in New Zealand in the recent maternity nursing examinations. The chairman (Mr J. J. Ryburn) said that Nurse McGregor’s achievement was almost unique, for in the general nursing examination held a few months ago she was at the top of the list for New Zealand, and received a gold medal.
