MORTALITY AMONG FISH.

“Following reports that fish were dying in the Wharekopae Kiver and that the probable cause was tho heat of the water, I made a tour of the district and am finnly of the opinion that the killing off of the fish has been caused by the emptying of a sheep dip or some other foreign and poisonous matter into the river.” said the ranger (Mr C. Breingan), at a meeting of the council of the East Coast Acclimatisation Society. “I know of three dips bordering on the banks of the Wharekopae Biver. and in the vicinity of two of them T found dead fish,” continued the ranger. “In one hole I found six dead fish and three in another.”
