AIR SERVICES.
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Jan. 21. As from this week-end, the Sunday air service between Wellington and Auckland will be limited to one departure from each terminal instead of the two which have been flown by Union Airways of New Zealand, Ltd. The double trip on week-days will be continued, and the connections with tho machines to and from the South Island will be maintained at Palmerston North, as at present, and on both the upward and down journeys calls will be made at New Plymouth. The new Sunday time-table provides for departure from Auckland at 8.5 a.m., the ’plane arriving at Wellington at 11.15 a.m. The ’plane from Wellington will leave at noon and arrive at Auckland at 3 p.m., half an hour later than the week-day trip, which will be accounted for by a stop at New Plymouth. Recently Union Airways made application to the Commissioner of Transport (Mr G. L. Laurenson) for the elimination of the noon service from Auckland and the 3 p.m. service from Wellington on Sundays. The reason given was that it had been found that there was not sufficient traffic on the route to warrant double trips on Sundays.
