FIGURES FOR LAST YEAR. IMPORTS HIGHER. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Jan. 20. The distribution of overseas trade in 1937 between British and foreign countries\vas as follow : s : Imports ■worth £405.300,000 were drawn from British countries and worth £623,800,000 from foreign countries, compared with £322,400,000 and £515,400,000 respectively in 1936. United Kingdom goods worth £252000,000 were exported to British countries and worth £269.600.000 to foreign countries, against £216,900,000 and £223,700,000 respectively in 1936. The proportion of imports from British countries in 1937 was 39.4 per cent., against 39.2 per cent., in 1936, and was the highest percentage ever recorded. The share of United Kipgdom exports taken by British countries declined from last year’s record figure of 49.2 per cent, to 48.3 per cent.
