VESSEL FOR ISLANDS.

DEPARTURE DELAYED. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 20. Mystery surrounds a delay in the departure of the Chatham Island steamer Tees from Lyttelton. The vessel arrived from the Chathams early on Monday morning and was scheduled to leave on Tuesday night. Her cargo was loaded on Tuesday and a full complement of passengers was ready to board the ship when it was announced that the departure had ben postponed till Thurscla’y. The agents announced to-dav that the vessel was expected to sail this evening, but it is understood the vessel will’ go into dock for survey this afternoon, it being rumoured that the ship may he sold to-day. Meantime, tlie passengers are still waiting, for the Tees is the only vessel giving a service to the Islands.
