RONGOTEA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) RONGOTJSa, Jan. 20. The First Rongotea Company of Girl Guides have just returned from a camp of 15 days at Resolution Bay, Marlborough Sounds. The site was a very picturesque one. It was ail ever changing scene and was beautiful at sunrise. On one of these sloping hills was the campsite, where the tents were pitched and cooking done under the shade of tall trees, while the use of an empty house proved a great asset on the three wet day 6. lushing was a very popular pastime. One allclay hike was taken around the cpast, another up the stream which watered the camp, and lastly a hill climb of J. 400 feet. The star day of the camp was that on which the Guides went lor a launch trip to Pclorus Sound. All boarded the launch by 6.30. A stop of about 20 minutes was made at Ship Cove while everyone went ashore to see Captain Cook s memorial. Shortly after resuming the trip, the open seu, where it was a little choppy, was reached; an hour and the party were in the shelter v-t Pelorous bound, and a good run down brought tbe Guides to tlieir objective—Tennyson Inlet, by 12 o’clock. The party arrived home at 7.3 Q p.in. having covered auout 130 miles. The rather rocky shore afforded large scope for Nature study. Oil the day that the Guides returned to Rongotea a run was taken from pic ton to ' Tile Grove. Altogether the camp was a great success, and all were fit and well.
