FIERCE RAID

ATTACK ON BARCELONA, 100 KILLED OR WOUNDED. WORST KNOWN SO EAR. (United Press Association—By ElectricTelegraph—Copyright.) Received January 20, 10.15 a.m. LONDON, Jan. 19. A message from Barcelona says that an air raid, which was the worst the city has known, occurred when the streets were • crowded with women and children. The ’planes dropped bombs weighing about lOOOlbs. It is officially announced that 100 persons were killed or wounded. The British United Press correspondent at Algiers says that a local wireless station broadcast a message which was stated to have been picked lip from ‘the British tanker Esturia during an intensive air raid on Valencia. Five hundred children and a large number of adults were killed. Bombs exploded on the benzine storage tanks.
