ATHLETICS AND CYCLING.

CLUB NIGHT SPORTS. In perfect weather and with a splendid attendance of onlookers, the Feilding Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club’s evening sports were held last evening at Kowhai Park. The track was in splendid order and good entries were received lor the running and cycling events while good fields were also received for the ladies’ races included officially for the first time this season. A number of Palmerston North competitors attended, as well as two llongotea athletes.

The three-mile cycle event created considerable interest, the finish of a well-handicapped race being fought out between H. Cocker and Joseph Allen, the latter winning by a fraction of a wheel in 7min. 43 2-ssec. The handicapper and starter was Mr F. Dalzell, the time-keeper Mr A. McCardle, : and judge Mr A. McGregor. Details are as follow : CYCLING EVENTS.

One-lap dash.—A. Dewe 1. James Allen 2, Batten 3; time, 36 4t5. Half-mile.—A. Allen 1, Stewart 2, J. Allen 3; time, 1.7 3-5. Two-mile.—Stewart 1, Batten 2, Joseph Allen 3; time, 4.50 3-5. Three-mile.—Joseph Allen 1, H. Cocker 2, Stewart 3; time, 7.43 2-5. RUNNING EVENTS. Ladieß' 75 yards.-—J. Grindrod 1, M. Grindrod 2, A. Wilson (Palmerston North) 3. Ladies’ 100 yards.—J. Grindrod 1, A. Wilson 2, J. Saunders 3; time, 11 3-ssec.

Men’s 100 yards.—G. W. Fisher 1. Temperton 2, G. Arnott (llongotea) 3; time, 10 l-ssec. Men’s 300 yards.—G. Fisher 1, Fairburn 2, Temperton 3; time, 31 3-ssec.

Men’s 440 yards.—C. McVicar 1, R. McCardle 2, G. Arnott 3; time, 51 4-ssec.

Half-mile walk.—A. Fade 1, R. Lamberton 2; time, 4min. 5 4-ssec. Boys’ 440 yards run. —D. McCardle 1, M. Velvin 2, N. Hill 3. Mixed relay race, 440 yards, Palmerston North v. Feilding, won by Palmerston North.

Boys’ 100 yards run.—C. Garnett 1. Gleeson 2, McCardle 3. Mr A. Davis’s special trophies were won by Misses J. Grindrod and A. Wilson.
