BOY DROWNED.
MATIRI RIVER TRAGEDY. Per Press Association. NELSON, Jan. 19. The body of Douglas Alan Thomas, aged 12, whose parents reside at Mo•teka, was recovered from a deep pool in the Matiri River, near Murchison, today. Thomas was spending a holiday at Matiri and went to bathe on Sunday afternoon in the river. He got into difficulties and disappeared despite his companion’s efforts to save him.
