NAPIER WOOL STORES Per Press Association. NAPIER, Jan. 19. Dissatisfied with the failure of the Arbitration Court to announce a definite decision in connection with the i award for 400 wool store workers, the workers in Napier ceased work at 1 o’clock this afternoon, after a lunclihour meeting. It is anticipated that a definite statement will be made by the secretary- later this afternoon, but in the meantime he refuses to comment. It is common knowledge, however, that the men are dissatisfied with the existing wage position. ARBITRATION COURT’S WORK. AWARD TO BE RETROSPECTIVE. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Jan. 19. “I understand the trouble at Napier has been caused by the Arbitration Court’s delay in announcing the award which the men expected before Christmas,” said the Minister of Labour (Hon. 11. T. Armstrong) tonight. “The delay has been unavoidable. I have been in touch with the members of the Arbitration Court and they have assured me that the matter will bo gone into when the Court sits at Auckland on Monday. The award will be made retrospective so that the men will lose nothing.”
