SOVIET PARLIAMENT.

HIGH PERSONAGES CRITICISED. MOSCOW, Jan. 18. General criticisms of highly-placed personages were a feature of the discussion in the new Soviet Parliament at a meeting yesterday. M. Zhdanov (chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee) demanded an explanation of why there were so many foreign Consulates in Leningrad, many of which were exceeding their functions, and declared that there must not be more consulates in Russia than Russia had abroad. He further criticised the Commissar of Transport for failing to load 8000 tons of oil in accordance with requirements and also for many accidents on the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea. M. Bagrov (a Deupty from Baku) attacked M. Krilenko (Commissar of Justice) for not discharging his duties properly owing to too much chessplaying and mountaineering, and demanded M. Krilenko’s dismissal from the post.
