NEW RANGE ROAD.
ROUTE TO WOODVILLE. NEARING COMPLETION. The alternative route to Woodvillo from the Manawatu side of the ranges is nearing completion, and the road has been formed right down to the edge of the Pohangina River at Ashhurst, about half a mile north of the township. From an inspection of the survey pegs on Mr Romley’s property, it appears that the old factory road at the top of Romley’s Hill will be the connecting link. The new road lias been metalled to within a furlong of the water’s edge, and is wide enough for traffic to pass coinfortably. The face of the cliff has been well cut back, and it would' need a slip of considerable magnitude to block the road. It appears that all that needs to be done now is the building of the bridge across the river to connect up the roads.
At the present time the river is onlv a little over a foot deep in the vicinity of the site where the bridge will span it.
