AIR RAID DEFENCE
PRECAUTIONS IN BRITAIN. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) Received January 18, 1.20 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 17. Wing-Commander Hodsoll (Inspec-tor-General of the Air Raid Precautions Department) to-day told a Leeds audience that 200,000 volunteers for air raid precaution work had come forward but many . more were needed. Dr. W. C. Bentall said that security against the employment of gas in future wars was directly proportionate to preparedness for it. Respirators, now being made, were completely efficient against tea.r gas, sneezing gas. and a choking gas Idee phosgene and gave 75 per cent, protection against mustard gas.
