“MAGIC” CRYSTAL.

NEW YORK, Jan. 6. The claim is made that the addition of a “magic” crystal to a' bottle of whisky would eliminate the most dreaded result of alcoholism—poly-neu-ritis. The cost of the crystal , is only one farthing. Mr Nonnan Jolliffe announces that if half a milligram .of crystalline vitamin Bl were added to each pint of whisky by distillers, it would prevent the disease which often cripples and blinds tlie heavy drinker. He adds the caution that the vitamin will not prevent intoxication or the ordinary “hang-over.” _ 1 Dr Jolliffe is chief of the psychiatric division of the New York Department Hospitals.
