FATAL BURNS.

METHYLATED SPIRITS EXPLODE. YOUNG BOY’S DEATH. Per Press Association. WHANGAREI, Jan. 18. Severely burned when a tin of methylated spirits exploded, Lloyd Worthington, aged 12, the son of Mr Hector Worthington, of Mnungaturoto, died in the Whangarei Hospital last night. The boy was filling a toy engine operated by methylated spirits _ from a half-gallon can when the spirit exploded. The lad’s clothing was set on fire, and before the flames could be extinguished lie received severe burns on practically every part of the body The explosion was of such force that the can, which was being handled in the open air, was blown over the house.
