ACTIVE OFFENSIVE.
CHINA’S REPLY. (Times Cables.) Received January 18, 1.15 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 17. The Times Shanghai correspondent states that the Chinese response to Tokio’s fulminntions appears to be an active offensive on the two fronts besides Hangchow. The Chinese, assisted by aeroplanes, have launched a vigorous drive towards Wuliu from two directions; also they have intensified the conflict in the Tsining area, both sides claiming possession of the town.
