Andrei Zhdanov, the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, at a meeting of the neiv Parliament, said: “1 cannot understand what is happening in France, and why they tolerate the existence of terrorist antiSoviet organisations. The Commissariat of Foreign Affairs must take into consideration thi6 defect on the part of a Government Avith Avliich avg have a pact of mutual assistance.” M. Zhdanov demanded a sterner policy against Japanese hooliganism. The members of the neAV Russian Parliament have voted themselves salaries'of £37 a month, Avith £5 a day during the session.
