ABYSSINIAN TROUBLES.
PROBLEM OF NATIVE LABOUR. LONDON, Jan. 17. The Manchester Guardian says that Italy's Abyssinian troubles continue, the army in occupation having constantly to deni with armed resistance and attacks on outposts. Bribery and coercion of chiefs will not solve the problem of securing native labour. Abyssinians refuse to deliver the decreed quantities of produce.
Natives defeated a small Italian punitive force on December 7. Nothing is known of Colonel Aleri and 1200 soldiers dispatched to carry out reprisals. Import trade is restricted, exports paralysed, transport defective, food scarce and prices rising. i
