FURTHER DECISIONS. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, Jan. 15. The University Senate this morning decided that no action- be taken regarding the request of the registration board to .institute University examinations in connection with the qualifications for registered teachers in music. The academic board stated that, as the examination would involve an oral and practical test of each candidate, the suggested scheme would be impracticable, particularly as there was no conservatorium of musio within the University. The academic board recommended that no action be taken regarding the request of the Municipal Association that the University use its -influence to ensure that in any local Government examination English he a compulsory subject. The recommendation was adopted. The salary of the vice-chancellor was fixed at £3OO. It was decided that the degree examinations commence on the 44th Monday of the year.
