NOTES.
A correspondent, “Congratulations Manawatu,” writes inter alia:—“ln reading the report of the football match between Southland and Manawatu, 1 noticed you mentioned that Southland played only seven of their shield team; that Manawatu also were without several of their best players. I would like you to publish the teams picked to represent Southland in their shield game and Manawatu team against the Springboks; also the names of the players m the above teams who did not take part in this week’s game.”
The names of the Southland shield team was not sent out in the Press Association report of the match. Manawatu’s team against the Springboks was; M. Waldin, H. Waugh, G. Wasley, D. Buick, J. Nicol, Jack Finlay, C. Edlin, O. Newman, G. Terrv, W. Powell, A. G. Williams, R. McKenzie, E. Fell, It. Ewart, W. Sullivan.
Against Southland the Manawatu team was:—Waldin, R. Gillespie, G. Wasley* D. Buick, J. Finlay, J. Nicol, Irvine (captain), L. Findlay, Fleming, W. Powell, Williams, Newman, L. Beard, Ewart. Sullivan. It will be observed that Waugh, EdLrn, Fell, Terry, and McKenzie were not included in the team against Southland.
