PERSONAL.

The condition of Mr I. D. S. Cooksley, of Mangawliata, who lias been seriously ill in a private hospital, is now improving. Mr B. W. Johanson, of Waipukurau and formerly of Palmerston North, was admitted to the Bar by Mr Justice Reed in ,the Supreme Court at Napier yesterday. Mr M. H. Oram, chairman of the Palmerston North High Schools Board of Governors, was appointed last night to represent the board on the City’s Diamond Jubilee Committee.

Dr H. 0. Askew, agricultural chemist at the Cawthron Institute, Nelson, has left on a visit to Australia for the purpose of getting in touch with research investigations dealing with mineral deficiencies and other soil problems. He will spend five weeks at the W aite Research Institute, Adelaide.
