A Morrinsville district farmer has a consistent producer in his herd in a. .Ter-sey-A.vrshire cross cow that he acquired as a. heifer when he went farming in 1919. This oow has been milking well every season, and now gt 19 years is “still going strong.” A large proportion of the younger cows in his herd are descendants of this cow. By way of contrast, it is frequently stated by dairy farmers that rihout 25 per cent, of their_ herds have to be replaced every year owing to the ravages of discasO and other causes, says an exchange.
