(From Our Own Correspondent.)FONT ON, Aug. 16. Airs J. AI. Thomson, who lias been an inmate of a private hospital in Palmerston North, has returned home. Mrs I - ’. Robinson is at present an inmate cf tile Palmerson North Hospital. Rev. Air Murray presided oyer the’ annual meeting of the Presbyterian Church. Reference was made to the illness of Mrs J. AI. Thomson and Air It. T. Betty and resolutions of sympathy were passed; a motion of sympathy was also exlended to the relatives of the late Air J. IC. Hornblow. Reports showed that tho P.W.M.U. had made a donation of 10s to tile Alaori Girls’ College and a grant of 9s to the Ajaiori mission work; the Bible class lias a membership of 14 with an average attendance cf 10; collections were -£5 14s 9d; donations £2 2s 3d to the mission and 10s to the orphanage; the Ladies’ Guild regretted the departure of Airs Jehu ltoss, who was president, and for 20 years secretary; the. financial position was very sound and (lie state of the extension fund creditable; the Sunday school lias a roib number of 50 and a regular attendance of 24.Rcv. Mr Murray congratulated all on tho progress shown by the reports. , Votes of thanks were accorded the choir and choirmaster, organist, Ladies’ Guild, Bible Hass and Sunday school, teachers and officers, tho auditor, secretary and treasurer. Olio election of a committee for tho ensuing year resulted:—Messrs D. R. Barron, J. Symon, E. Titcornbe, Jas. Ross, W. M. Thomas, R. N. Spcirs,. R. O’. Betty, R. C. Hornblow, C. Watkins and AJ. Baird. It was recommended that tho envelope system bo gain brought into force. Airs R. N. Spcirs and Aliss J. Ross were appointed supervisors. It was reported that tho Ladies’ Guild is arranging for tho purchase of a new supply of hymn books and a recommendation was made that the guild consider assisting financially towards tlie cost of painting tho church. A hearty voto of thanks was accorded Rev. and Airs Alurray for their work during the past, year. * Representatives of the Levin Golf Chib beat a team from tho Herrington Club by 10 games ■to 2. Detailed results, Foxton players mentioned first: J. D. Purcell lost to Astley, J. 11. Purcell lest lo Can, avail, Rowland lost to Clark, Grotty beat Langelan. Shortt lost to Phillips, Anderson lost to Lager, Newton lost to Alunroe, Small brat Franklin. Four-hall: Purcell and Purcell lost to Astley and Canavan, Rowland and Crotty lost to Clark and Langclan, Shorttand Andcnson lost to Phillips and Lager, Newton and Small lost lo Alunroe and Franklin.
