BANKING POLICY
CONTROL BY STATE. PREMIER’S COMMENT. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Aug. 18. Commenting on a. suggestion reported to have been made bv Mr A. S. Richards, M.P., at a meeting at Auckland last night that the Government would be taking a further step this coming session towards complete control of banking, the Prime Minister (Mr M. J. Savage) said to-day that while the Government was getting a satisfactory service from private banking corporations it would be satisfied. “If we do not,” he added, “then we will provide it ourselves. That statement is not new; 1 ha.ve made it many times. So far no definite decision has been made.”
