WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.

AIEETING AT BUNNYTHORPE.

The monthly meeting of the Bunnytliorpe Women’s Institute was held on Wednesday, when there was an excellent attendance of both members and visitors. As this was the seventh birthday, visitors had. come from far and near to attend, and Mrs Jackson (president) extended a warm welcome to all, especially Airs Eggleton, the foundation president. Before commencing the proceedings, members were reminded ot the group meeting to be held next month ; it was hoped to 6ee a large gathering there. A most enjoyable programme was then commenced, the following contributing items: Piano solo, Airs Cameron; song, Mrs Lassen; sketch (humorous), Misses Gore and Donald; song, Mrs Hennessy; recitation, Ann Powell. These items were enthusiastically received. A competition (musical stick), which caused much amusement, was played, Mrs Clements being the winner. A song by Mrs Cam- , erson and a further item by Ann Powell were appreciated. Another competition (motor cars) was won by Airs Spooner and Airs Guy. There was a pleasing little interlude when Airs Williamson presented Alesda.mes Jackson (president), Faulkner (secretary) and Donald (past secretary) with beautiful shoulder sprays. After afternoon tea had been served by the committee Airs Jackson called on Aliss Grant, president of the North Wellington Federation, to cut the cake. This was made and iced by Airs Nix, and a hearty vote of thanks was extended to her. The cake was beautifully iced in Institute colours, and when it was handed round was voted delicious. Aliss Grant spoke briefly on the institute work and hoped that Bunnythorpe would have many more such happy gatherings. Airs Tomlinson returned thanks to all who gave items and helped to make the afternoon such a success. A most enjoyable birthday was then brought to a close with singing of the National Anthem.
