EFFICIENT SERVICES.
TEST PRESS MESSAGES. Per Press Association. AVELLINGTON, Aug. 16. The Telegraph Department’s teleprinter service from Athletic Park on Saturday again resulted in highly efficient transmission of Press messages throughout the Dominion and overseas.
In consequence of the success of the experiment the department has decided to install teleprinters (if accommodation can be obtained for them) at Christchurch, Dunedin, and Auckland for the matches against Canterbury, New Zealand (second Test), Otago, and New Zealand (third Test). The messages service will Ire utilised in other centres where the traffic will be less congested and where the grounds are nearer to telegraph offices. The total number of words handled at Athletic Park on Saturday was 8160, of which 4373 words were sent to overseas addresses. Two thousand three hundred and thirty-two words were lodged before half-time. Altogether 114 messages were sent to 218 addresses.
