PAHIATUA.

PAHIATUA, Aug. 13. Congratulatory messages from the Jung and Queen at Balmoral Castle, -Liigland, Lord Galway, and the Prime Minister 1 (Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) were received by Mr and. Mrs C. H. Arrow, of “Hillcrest,” who celebrated their diamond wedding yesterday. The hostesses a.t the last social evening held by the Pahiatua Musical Club were Mrs Thompson, Mrs L. Chatwin and Miss McSherry. The M.C. was Mr A. B. Groves. The after-dinner practice hour was spent in dancing and balloon tennis, Mr A. W. Hamilton’s team winning. A vocal trio in costume (Miss Dorothy Bick, Mavis Barrett a.nd Grace Bissett) sang. Another item was a pianoforte duet by Mrs A. W. Carthew and Miss B. Lucas. The accompanists were Mrs A. Bissett, Miss B. Lucas and Mr L. Hartley.
