FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.
MANCHESTER UNITY, 1.0.0. F. The N.G., Bro. L. \V. Rees, presided over the meeting of Loyal Manawatu Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F. There were several apologies for absence mostly on account of sickness. Bro. J. J. Carrol presented the sick report including visits made to the Hospital. Bro. C. V. Christiansen, P.G., reported on the cribbage tourney with Oroua Lodge of Druids, the result of which was a very close win for Oroua Lodge. Special mention was made of the cordial reception given to the challengers by Oroua Lodge. Five candidates were proposed for membership and successfully balloted for. A motion of condolence with P.G. Bro. V. Gerrand in the sad loss of his wife was' passed. P.I. Bro. H. Freeman was granted leave of absence from the next two meetings. The first round of the ping-pong tourney was commenced, and this promises to be very interesting, some of the players showing unusual ability. The manage ment committee was instructed to report on the state of the floor of the hal and if necessary to have repairs carried out. After lodge bowls and ping-pong were engaged in by a largo number of members.
