Mrs J. Edmond, of Aslihurst, is visiting Auckland. Miss 11. Collins, of Auckland, spent the week-end in Palmerston North, and was the guest of Mrs J. Evans; of ltangitane Street. One of the best-known of Auckland’s surviving Maori war veterans, Captain J. Corbett-Scott, and Mrs Corbett-Scott celebrated the 63rd anniversary of their wedding last -week. Captain Corbett-Scott was 09 years old on April 16 last, and was among those who took part in the famous defence of the Pukekohe East Church in 1863. Captain and Mrs CorbettScott were married at Tuakau in 1874 and, after living at Pukekohe in 1874 and Mount Eden, they settled at Epsom 37 years ago, and have occupied the same house ever since.
