CANTERBURY WIN. BELATED SCORING. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 14. After giving a mediocre display for most of the game, Canterbury struck form with a vengeance at the very end of the match against- Otago at Lancaster Park to-day, scoring three tries in five minutes to win by 14 points to 6. Canterbury in that last five minutes looked like a team which might put up a good showing against the Springboks next Saturday. Canterbury led by a converted try to a penalty goal at half-time, the try being a neat one by Chinnery. Play had
been scrambling through the spell, and it continued that way until, with about 10 minutes to go, another penalty goal by Bolton put Otago, the holders of the Ranfurly Shield last year, one point ahead. Then the Canterbury backs began to run and handle as if inspired, and there was always a solid phalanx of heavy forwards to give them able support. The Otago team was a match for Canterbury right up to that last 10 minutes.
