NOTED DOG JUDGE.
ROYAL SHOW OFFICIAL. Mr Stedman-Thomas, an Englishman living in Massachusetts, U.S.A., who, it nas reported recently, has conscnted to act ns tho jndgo at the Manawntu Ivennel Club’s exhibition to he held at the ltoyal Show, is regarded a.s ono of the three leading judges of dogs m the world. It is some time since an international dog judge visited New Zealand, although there have been judges in the Dominion who have officiated in Australia or in England. Mr StedmanThomas has judged in many countries, England. India and the United States being possibly tho most important, and some impression of the regard in which he is held may he gained from the fact that in order to conic to Now Zealand that in order to come to Palmerston North he had fo relinquish appointments nt no less tlyni six American shows. He will be judging all breeds except working collies and the Manawatu Kennel Club members expect that bis presence, will give a decided fillip to tlic entries. The prize list lias been augmented and the total value will be the greatest to bo offered at any dog show in New Zealand Ibis year. In that regard, although all specialist clubs are actively interested, the New Zealand Cocker Spaniel Club has been specially generous. In addition, th? Manawatu Club is indebted to the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association for generous assistance at all times. The club is actively engaged in seeking entries from all over New Zealand. When the show was held last year very , favourable comment was passed oil its geenral presentation and organisation. This year, with the added experience, the' club will he sparing no effort to eclipse the former standard and the members feel confident that they will do so.
