ADVERSE WINDS MET

The first messages intercepted from the Soviet ’plane flying from Moscow to Alaska stated that it had crossed the North Pole at four a.in. (New York time). The temperature was 15 degrees below zero. Adverse GO miles an hour winds have been encountered, but the machine was functioning flawlessly.
