SIR CHARLES CLIFFORD. The form shown by the horses of Sir Charles Clifford was the outstanding feature of last season’s racing ill the Dominion. It, was apparent early that, ho was likely to head the list of winning owners, and he finished up with a total of £9581 10s, which gave him first place easily. Sixteen different horses carried the bine and gold chequers during the season, winning 30 races and being nlaced on 31 occasions. Only two of the 16 failed to earn some money for the stable. Dropped Catch was sold after one race, and paid his way for his 'new owner, and Mob Rule was unlucky and maV make amends (bis season if she trains on. Three others, Rceolleetiom Bun Fight, and Impersonator, were sold after doing a little racing. STAR OF, TEAM. Wild Chase was the star of the team. He won eight races and was plaepd throe times, his successes including the Now Zealand Derby and St. Lcger, Canterbury Cup, Dunedin Cup, Jamos Ilazlett Cup and Awapuni Cup. Ho was the season’s best three-year-old.' Two others of the same age were his chief assistants for Sir Charles. Paper Slipper’s best race was the Stewards’ Handicap, while the performances of Trench Fight were headed by the Jockey Club Handicap. Another of the stablo three-year-olds, Top Notch, won the Oaks. She received fatal injuries when she fell at Easter, but tho other three are training on and may keep the flag flying this season. Sir Charles had a great team of two-year-olds, six of them winning a total of nine Paces. They represented a wide range of sires, Haughty Winner and Rival Hit bolrm by Winning Hit, Counterblast by Jericho. Card Player by Paper Money, Great Bramble by Magnus, and Nightdress by Nightmarch. Those six have all wintered Well, and the stable should be very strong in three-year-olds this season. "With one exception, these horses were all bred by their owner, while Paper Slip-
per was a foal when he was secured with his dam and reared at Stonyhurst. Sir Charles Clifford has been racing for only eight seasons. In 1929-30 his horsen won £730, but since then his winnings have been £4485, £3813 10s, £5692 10s, £2676, £4043, £4450, and now £9581 10s.
