CATERPILLAR PLAGUE.
A caterpillar plague, which has already laid waste thousands of acres of Scottish pasture land, was recently reported to have appeared in the Suffolk marshes. In Scotland measures have already beer, taken to prevent. the use of water which may be contaminated by the dead bodies of millions of the pests. In Suffolk the plague is on a larger scale than last year’s visitation. Mr C. L. Hamby, the Beceles borough surveyor, has given orders for fires to he lit at tho bases of trees. Those primarily affected are tall willows.
