LENGTHY SERVICE.
TO PATRIOTIC SOCIETY,
SECRETARY RETIRES.
“At the end of the financial year Mr J. Perniain, who had tendered his resignation some months before on account of his condition of health, finally terminated his employment with the society after having served it bis honorary secretary and as secretary ever since its formation in the year 1915,” states the president of the Patriotic Society, Mr A. E. Mansford, in his report, which is to be presented to the annual meeting. “During the whole of that long period he ha 6 carried out his duties punctually, most conscientiously and well, and has never spared himself in the task. The society was indeed fortunate that his continuous &er vices have been available, and particularly during the most important period of its existence when the policy of the society was in formulation and then was being put into operation. He leaves us with a record of which he may well be proud and he carries with him the best wishes of all who had been connected with him for a full restoration to health with many years of happiness and usefulness before liim. Although not remaining with us in his official capacity, he is still retaining his interest in the society, haying accepted election to our executive. His long experience and intimate personal knowledge will he of the utmost value to us in the future for so long as we are privileged to retain him.”
