BUDGE AND MISS ROUND CAPTURE TENNIS TITLES AT WIMBLEDON.—In probably the hardest fought match of the Wimbledon tennis championships, Miss Dorothy Round, of England, captured the women's singles title she held in 1934 by defeating Mme. Jadwiga Jedrzejowska, of Poland, 6—2, 2—6, 7—5. Miss Round displayed remarkable stamina to outplay the Polish star, who was considered by some as a strong threat to take the title. Miss Round is seen here in action. The men’s singles title was won by Donald Budge, California, who defeated Baron Gottfried von Cramm of Germany in stragiht sets, 6—3, 6—4, 6—2. It was the first American victory in the men’s singles since Ellsworth Vines captured the title in 1932. In this picture Budge, who succeeds Fred Perry, is seen in two action shots taken during recent tennis matches.
