INDUSTRIAL SYSTEMS.

HON. H. T. ARMSTRONG’S TOUR. VISIT TO AMERICA. WASHINGTON, Aug. 10. The New Zealand Minister of Labour (Hon. H. T. Armstrong) interviewed by the Australian Associated Press, said he was investigating industrial relationships and management during his visit to the United States and Canada and would continue discussions on a New Zealand-American trade treaty at Washington. Air Armstrong will consult various Ministers, particularly the Secretary of Labour (Aliss E. Perkins), and has arranged an interview with Air J. L. Lewis, chairman of the Committee of Industrial Organisation. “The unhappy relationships between labour and capital which 1 have already seen in New York seem lamentable.” Mr Armstrong said. He felt the New Zealand conciliation and arbitration system illustrated its own • tro n gest j usti fleation. He was convinced that seasonal exchanges of dairy products and fruits would provide an excellent beginning which would be mutually satisfactory to a New Zealand and American treaty and sa-id he planned to pursue inquiries on those lines.

He expects to study mass production methods in Detroit and feels much can be learned from America, despite the tinhappy labour relationships. Air Armstrong is sailing in the Aonangi.
