AUSTRALIAN FIGURES.

The annual report of the Commonwealth Grants Commission shows the net iosses on the public debts of the States for the past financial year, after debiting interest, sinking fund _ and exchange and crediting the earnings, were £17,718,000. . The individual amounts were: New South Wales, £5,586,000; Victoria, £3,012,000; Queensland, £3,658,000; South Australia, £2,517,000; Western Australia, £1,942,000; Tasmania, £1,003,000.
