STRIKE IN AMERICA.
ORDERS FOR THE C. 1.0. CONTROL WANTED. Received August 11, 9.35 a.m. NEW YORK, Aug. 10. Another effort by the Committee of Industrial Organisation at the largescale organisation of another important industry occurred with a call for a strike, the Textile Workers’ Union calling out 30,000 workers from the silk and rayon industries in several States. Their principal demands are for recognition.
LONGSHOREMEN’S DECISION. OPPOSITION TO J. L. LEWIS. Received August 11, 9.30 a.m. SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 10. The American Federation of Labour to-day ousted Mr Harry Bridges from the position of district vice-president of California and suspended 10,000 members of the Longshoremen’s Association for their affiliation with Mr John L. Lewis’s Committee for Industrial Organisation.
