STUDENTS NOMINATED.
FOR RHODES SCHOLARSHIP. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Aug. 10. The names of the students nominated ns the Victoria University College candidates for the 1938 New Zealand Rhodes Scholarships were announced to-day l>y the Professorial Board. The nominees are Messrs A\. I. Coombs, 8.A., and R. L. Meek. Mr Combs received hi* early education at * the Dannevirke High School where, ill 1930 ho won a Senior National Scholarship,' and in 1933 a University Entrance Scholarship. Entering Victoria College in 1934 he gave special attention to lan. images. Last year lie .completed the Bachelor of Arts degree, being awarded a Senior Scholarship m French and being proximo aocossit to the Senior Scholar in Larin. With another, he was awarded the Robert Stout Bursary. While at Victoria College Mr Ccmbs has been a member of the harrier club and defence rifle c |„b and has played in college football .earns. He holds the position of nows editor on the college paper, Smad. He is 21 wars of a-ffo. M,.
