WELLINGTON PRICES HIGHER, e At the fifth sale of rabbjtakins hold at Wellington yesterday there was a keen demand and higher prices wore made by good sorts. Dalgcty and Company, Ltd., report:— Our offering comprised skin* trapped in the Wairarapa. Manawatu, King Country and Waikato districts, and generally were in excellent condition, the get-up of the consignments showing an improvement on previous saies. The demand for all grades \vao keen, good winter does especially showing a marked advance on late rates, the increase being 4cl io 7d per lb. Bucks abo sold in sellers’ favour. The lower grades also were in request, and considering the quality of the skins. new coming forward showed little alteration on previous quotations. Prime winter bucks sold to 151 d per lb. first winter bucks to 148 d, 2nd winter bucks to 135 d. Ist early winter bucks to 120 d, and 2nd early winter bucks to 150 d.

The New Zealand I/sail and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:—All grades met with keen competition. There was an improved demand with nrires firmer for all grades of winters, with tlio exception of prime and first winter bucks, which were 7d to 9d easier, ’file demand for winter does was much stronger and they were from 5d to 6d per ill firmer. Spotted outgoing and spring grades of bucks were from 4d to lOd per lb firmer than last sale's rates.
