(From Our Own Correspondent.) MILSON,. Aug. 10. The monthly meeting of the Milson School Committee was held on Monday evening. Mr S. Thomson presided and also present wero: Messrs J. Eaton, G. Richmond and L. Robertson (secretary). T:ho headmaster (Mr Af. It. AlcEwen) reported that the roll number was now 121, which was a record for the school. Tlia agricultural instructor (Air Lange), who visited the school recently, was very pleased with the appearance of the grounds. It was decided to held the Arbor Day celebrations oil August 18, and extend a welcome to any parents interested. The committee expressed thanks to Mr A. IV. Just for the donation of shrubs for the hedges.
The school girls’ basketball team played a match against the Russell Street School at Russell Street. The local team won by 4 goals to 2. Russell Street wero represented by M. Franklin, 11. Hodgson, D. Procter, S. Kirkland. 11. Sheppard. T. Procter. Z. Raboro, T. Smith, W. Piera, and Alilson by Aneico Gilbert, Alerlo Johansen. Leithy Johnson, Joyce Eaton, Helen Hill, Valma Mudgwnv, Joy Phillips, Gwen Bcnnctto, and Marjorie Pepper. The local schoolboys’ team played a match against Terrace End A at Terrace End. The local boys won by three to nil, the only try being scored by MV. Gumming. Air Schwarz refereed. Terraco End players were S. Cameron, V. Stevens, L. Smith. C. Todd, W. Farland, G. Shadholt, S. Mnllinger. M. Bray. S. Brav, M. .Tame*, J. Weston, A. Lane. R. Wix, R... Cherric, J. Anderson. Milson : D. Collett, L. Chalk, E. Bulmcr. R. Eaton, W. Bcnnctto, .T. Robertson. W. Campbell. W. Cumming. R. Proper, C Brown, C. Osteri, D. McDonald, J. Blackwell, 1. Rowan, D. Gilbert. The midget team played ‘ Terrace End B on Monday, the local team winning by 8 points to 3. Oil Monday evcr'ng the members of the Milson Table Tennis Chib assembled at the ball to bid fare-well to Mr E. Bulmcr, one of their members, who is leaving at an etirlv date or, transfer to Lower Hutt. Air B. Hnrdic in making the presentation of a' nockrt wallet to the departing member referred to the good work done by the member, who was a stalwart of the club, and on behalf of the members wished hifn every succor in. the future. Mr Bulmer suitably replied.
