METEORITE CRATER.

DISCOVERY IN AUSTRALIA. News of the finding of a great crater, caused by a huge meteorite, was brought to Adelaide by the lecturer in geology at the Adelaide University (Dr. C. T. Madigan), who recently returned by motor truck from a two months’ expedition in Central Australia. The expedition was of a purely geological nature, and his investigations were cpnfined chiefly to the ranges south and south-east ol the Macdonnel Ranges. . “We found many meteorites ol various sizes, the largest weighing three tons,” said Dr. Madigan in an interview, “but the biggest thrill or the trip was our discovery of a huge meteorite crater. 1 cannot give you the area in yards, but it is fully as large as the famous Hendury crater, which has hitherto been regarded as unique for its size in Australia.
