CABINET QUANDARY.

EGGS 100 YEARS OLD. In its efforts to improve trade relations between Australia and China, the Federal Government is facing an unusual and difficult .problem. Chinese exporting interests are seeking a market in Australia for eggs. These eggs are not thoee which ordinary folk expect to find on the breakfast table. According to those who export them, each is guaranteed -tu be 100 years old. Each is encased in a thick coating of fine brown mud, placed about it presumably to accelerate the process of maturing. l»e Chinese community in Australia value such eggs as a great delicacy and, according to official estimates u is prepared to buy £4OO worth a year if the Federal Ministry will giant tariff concessions, but :he Australian poultry industry has launched, an emphatic protest against the nnporcation of the eggs on the ground tnat the Australian industry can meet all demands of the local market. The Government has obtained three samples of the mudcaked Chinese ecfgs, but it is still in a quandary.
