YESTERDAY’S BUSINESS AND PRICES. Industrial and trading issues again figured prominently in the sales recorded on the Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday, Prices were generally steady. There was a good demand for Government loans at firm rates, but no sellers were showing. Investors showed littlo m terest, in bank issues. Union sold at £l£ 2s 6d, a rise of 6d, and New Zealand D long-term mortgage shares went at 30s. The only inquiry in the , quotations list was for New Zealand ordinaries at 44s 3d, sellers asking 44s Bd. Gas, coal-min-ing,- woollen, timber and brewery shares were quiet. Staples advanced to 51s, but sellers were silent. Australian Glass were steady at 93s 9d. British Tobaccos advanced to 51s, sellers 51s 9d. Broken Hill Proprietary sold at 84s 3d. Electrolytic Zinc ordinaries firmed to 60s, sellers asking 61s sd. G. J. Coles were easier at 98s 6d, sellers 99s 9d. Broken Ilill South wero strong at 51s. sellers 52s 9d.
