7000-MILE TOW.
KINGS WOOD REACHES SUEZ. LONDON, Aug. 1. The Dutch ocean-going tug Ganges, with the 5000-ton cargo steamer Kingswood in tow, reached Suez yesterday, 96 days out from Port Pirie. Tlie sturdy little tug has now' completed over 7000 miles, or about two-thirds of her task. The two vessels have averaged about three knots, covering a little more than 70 miles a day. The' Kingswood, a British freighter, owned Kv the Constantine Line, was extensively damaged by a boiler explosion while she was berthed at Port Pirie early in the year. Australian dockyards were asked to quote for repairs to the vessel, hut the owners eventually der : ded to tow ber to England for reconditioning. ■ They chartered the tug Ganges, which came out from Rotterdam for the task. The Ganges, with the Kingswood in tow, left Port Pirie on April 27. and, after calling at Albany, left Fremantle for the 5000-mile voyage across the Indian Ocean on May 23.
