NEWBURY.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) . NEWBURY, Aug. 10. At a committee mooting of the Newbury Women’s Institute Mrs E. Shaw presided. Apologies for absence were received from Alesdamcs .1. Chcetham, F. Verry, and W. Pcnberthy. It was dccidod to hold a social and dance in aid of federation funds at a later date. It was also suggested that tho Institute purchase a cupboard and crockery for their own use. Correspondence was dealt with, including invitations from tho Makino and Bunnythorpo Institutes to attend their birthday celebrations. The Newbury School basketball team, also the football team, journeyed to Bunnythorpo on Friday, playing tho school thcro, and after a friendly game the honours were divided. Tho basketball team lost, Bunnythorpe winning by 8 games to 2, and the football team won, Newbury winning 18 to 8. Messrs C. Wood and S. Death conveyed the children to and from Bunnythorpe. Mr and Mrs S. Alorris are at present on holiday in tho Wanganui district. Air Alorris, who has been ill recently,- is convalescing. Aliss S. Rogers, of Rangitikci Line, has left on a trip to Australia. She is accompanied by her sister and brother-in-law Mr and Mrs Adams, of Lower Hutt. Mr Billie Shannon’s friends will bo pleased to know that ho is much improved in health after his recent indisposition.
