PURSUED BY SHARK.
NAVAL MAN’S EXPERIENCE. SYDNEY, Aug. 9. During naval manoeuvres in Jervis Bay, while attempting to recover a torpedo, fourteen men from the destroyer Waterhen were flung into the water. One, who was unable to swim, clung to a lifebelt and was pursued by a shark. His mate, swimming nearby, detached a calcium flrjre from the belt and it immediately ignited. The flare was constantly jabbed in the direction of the shark until a launch rescued the whole party.
